Finally, it feels like the days are getting a little longer and there is a (always so faint) feeling of spring in the air. So to encourage the brighter and brighter months, we have gathered all our favorite ideas for spring decor that are super easy to implement and make your home ready for the season change.
‘Spring is here! When spring strikes, it is such a welcome change both seasonally and aesthetically. I love to light up my home in several ways. First replace layered items such as pillows and garments. A light linen throw is the perfect way to freshen up your space. ‘ says designer Marie Flanigan. ‘I also love placing fresh flowers or greenery from the yard throughout my home. Spring cleaning is a great way to clean and freshen up your home. During the year, we acquire and accumulate so much that it is nice to have a place and a place. ‘
Much like in winter when we pull out the heavy blankets and change all the materials in our homes to velvet, just as simple changes can be made in the spring – from quick living room ideas like replacing pillows to giving a tired kitchen a new click of paint.
How to update a house in the spring?
There are many easy ways to update your home ahead of spring. The easiest thing, in our opinion, is to fill your home with those short-lived but beautiful spring flowers – tulips, daffodils, hyacinths – all add a splash of classic spring color and smell fragrant and delicious. As designer Ruchi Mohan says “Nothing says spring like tulips, I love adding fresh seasonal flowers to my design to change the mood of the seasons.” Agreed. And we have many more spring interior design ideas to get you inspired …

The easiest way to make your home feel fresher and more spring-like? Fill your home with spring blossoms. As florist Philippa Craddock says: ‘Nothing can transform a room like the inherent optimism of a vase of spring flowers. Everything with them means new opportunities and potential, but in such a gentle, beautiful and positive way. ‘
‘The green shoots of narcissus, snowdrops and bluebells that appear after the long dark days of winter through frosty soil, give an instinctive and positive energy that I enjoy. Nothing breaks the enchantment of winter like fantastic yellow daffodils or mimosa or the bright, fresh white lily of the valley, fragrant daffodils, flowers and snowdrops. Each gives energy and positivity, they cut through the winter fog. Their scents are clean, uplifting and inspiring and they make everyone smile. ‘
2. Replace your curtains with something soft and skirt

During the winter months, curtains with heavy lining are a must to create a cozy, warm environment, but when the days get longer and temperatures start to rise, you want to maximize the light. So replace the thicker fabrics with lighter curtains and you will immediately see the difference.
“Clean curtains are my favorite in the spring.” says Pip Rich, Livingetc’s editor. “A fabric like a voile that feels liquid and soft and lets in the light. The trick is to hang it all the way up to the ceiling and keep it long enough so that it accumulates a little on the floor so that it can wave out in the wind.”
If privacy will be an issue, say in a bedroom, you can lay these lighter fabrics with a discreet blind or on top of blinds.
Transform a room with lighter shades

Much like heavier fabrics reflect our winter palettes that want to crawl down and curl up, so replace the deeper shades with lighter ones. Pillows and bedding are really simple gears to make that can totally change the look of a room.
As our assistant editor Busola Evans suggests, “Pillows are a quick fix when it comes to spring interior design updates – replace any velvet with deep-pile fabrics and darker colors with creams and lighter shades that suggest the sunnier weather ahead.”
And something else to take from this beautiful and light gray living room – the collection of jute bags that hang on the rail. If you have an area in your home, whether it is shelves or hooks, replace what you show with something that feels more after the season. Think about how you can add new textures and more spring-like shades to give the space a lift.
4. And introduce soft spring tones for a lift

Pastel and care decorations are synonymous. But before your mind takes you to the saccharine shades of baby pink along with baby blues and Easter bunny motifs – pastels can be made in a perfectly grown-up and stylish way. You just have to look for nuances in the more subdued, more earthy end of the spectrum.
Just look at the lovely peach-like coral colors used in this table image by Caitlin Jones Design and the contrast with the navy blue ground – clearly spring-like, but no sugary shades in sight.
‘I like to bring in seasonal decor and flowers that really take advantage of the various plants and flowers that are not available during the winter months. explains Caitlin Jones Ghaja. “Even if your home has a more neutral palette, you can bring in pops of spring colors – pink, citrus, purple to gild the space.”
5. Give your shelves and surfaces a spring refresh
Shelving ideas, consoles, bedside tables, coffee tables, all these surfaces are excellent properties for a spring renovation. Create screens that feel fresh and light, add flowers and pick out new coffee table books that suit the season and its color palette. We would say give it a weekend – remove everything from your shelves, clear all surfaces and start from the beginning by adding new elements and displaying older items in new configurations.
And of course, add smaller flowers in bud vases among your displays for an extra spring-like feel. ‘Ahh our! We love you and all your wealth, especially the flowers of the season that can transform a space so easily. All you need is a vase and some seasonal buds and you have an instant update. ‘ suggests Heather K. Bernstein, founder of HKB Interior Design.
Reorganize your kitchen

A good spring cleaning can often change a space as much as new pillows or curtains, so set aside some time before you start renovating to give each room a spruce. The kitchen is a good place to start because this is where you will probably notice the biggest difference. In addition to organizing a kitchen, you can also make small changes to the interior.
“Never underestimate the difference that rearranging the objects on the countertop can make.” explains Jen and Marr, founders of Interior Fox. ‘ Store used cutting boards, tired utensils and too many cookbooks. Instead, buy new wooden boards for viewing, lay out some selected cookbooks and place in a vase with your favorite leaf. With several uses, a tool rack is another great addition to your kitchen, as well as a great way to display utensils; it can also hold small pots for a small herb garden. ‘
7. Discard a new carpet

Kitchen rugs are a great way to update a kitchen for spring. They add a softness to this practical space and provide an opportunity to add a splash of color. Flat-woven rugs in durable fabrics such as jute and sisal work best because they hide scratches and stains and provide some visual (and physical) warmth.
We love the rosy tones of this rug used in the home by Lisa Mehydene, founder of Edit58. They add a brightness to the muted pink on the walls and make the overall space just feel cheerful. Rugs are good for experimenting with color because, unlike paint or a piece of furniture, they are so simple and relatively cheap to change, so you do not have to tie yourself and can dip your toe in bolder shades.

Green and yellow are the spring colors, but they are certainly not the easiest colors to take into interiors because they are so intense and contrasting. But as this dining room proves, these bold shades can work if used properly and toned down with a neutral, monochrome background.
Accent chairs are perfect for adding pops of these bolder shades without overwhelming a space, and you may even be able to upgrade something you already have and paint it for a spring makeover – just check out our guide on how to paint furniture for a real simple step by step.
9. Lay out soft and subtle patterns in layers
This blue and pale apricot color scheme in the bedroom already gives us lots of spring vibes, and the soft pattern in stock is perfect for this time of year. We pull too often to use multiple patterns in one space, but it’s easy to get it right if you just stick to a few rules. The first is to choose a hero pattern – a pattern that will tie together all the colors you want to use throughout your space. Now the hero does not have to mean bold, in this bedroom it is the blue and mustard pillows that pull together the warm and colder tones and allow them to be mixed with other patterns throughout the room.
Be sure to play with scale as well, mixing both large-scale prints with smaller livelier patterns. And finally, introduce some solid color blocks to balance the pattern that can be seen here with the headboard and ottoman.
Update a kitchen for warmer climates with a new coat of paint
Painting kitchen cabinets is a surprisingly easy do-it-yourself job if you have the time and patience, and although we would not recommend changing the color of your cabinet with each season, if your kitchen looks a little worse for wear, spring is the perfect time for a new coat of paint.
Alternatively, you can tackle the smaller job of painting a kitchen island, or even just paint the architraves, kitchen doors or window frames in a bolder shade for a new feel. Give your kitchen island new life with a new click of color. Instead of taking on the big task of painting the entire kitchen, find smaller areas to inject a new seasonal color. Choose a warming color that complements the existing cabinets as a dark navy blue or deep green. ‘ suggests Al Bruce, founder of Olive & Barr.
We love this deep yellow used in this kitchen by deVOL, the perfect shade for the warmer months, and even though it is a bold shade, it fits perfectly among the neutral shades.
