Pantone’s color of the year is Very Peri – Reading Eagle

A blue shade is the Pantones color of the year for 2022.

Very Peri is a snail shade that is easy on the eyes, but represents courage and ingenuity, according to Pantone.

The color system calls the new shade of blue “a dynamic periwinkle shade of blue with a vibrant violet undertone.”

“Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year training program reflects the global innovation and transformation that is taking place,” said Laurie Pressman, Vice President of Pantone. “The complexity of this new red-violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lie ahead.”

Minneapolis designer Lucy Penfield, whose work has been featured in major hostel magazines, said: “For the artist in all of us, Very Peri is the crucial dream, an escape from everyday life.

“Soft liquid sheer draperies in Very Peri or a dreamy textured vinyl wall covering with elements of Very Peri iridescent will take you to new intuitions.”

It is a color that calms and encourages. In these turbulent times, it may be worth investing in a can of Very Peri paint for an accent wall. Its calming nature makes it natural for the bedroom. It adds a splash of color without being dominant, making it perfect to combine with patterns.

Lisa McMenamin from LSM Interior Design in Peters, Washington County, loves the new color.

“I see I use it with other softer colors and have Very Peri the pronounced color,” she said. “Periwinkle blue has always been my favorite. Think spring!” .

Consumers will also begin to see the color of kitchen appliances, clothes and accessories.

“I would treat it like a blue and use it as an accent color along with a darker navy blue,” said Pittsburgh designer Katy Popple. “It would be perfect in floral arrangements, decorative accessories and art.”

Century Furniture and Huntington House both use Very Peri on upholstered chairs.

SmithHonig, a Georgia-based home decor line, is known for designs inspired by the founders’ travels. Visual artist Melanie Honig and designer Kellie Smith incorporate the periwinkle hue into pillows, tassels, wallpaper and more.

Uttermost’s Westerly table lamp is 100% Very Peri-ish and is an easy starting point to add a little color to your life.

“Very Peri is a symbol of the global spirit of the moment and the transition we are going through,” Pantone told the Pressman. “When we come out of an intense period of isolation, our perceptions and standards change, and our physical and digital lives have merged in new ways.”
