Target has been readying to open a store in Wall Township for several years now.
It will be on Route 35.
It’s replacing a shuttered Kmart.
It will be 91,000 square feet.
That much we know.
As far as an opening date? Well, that we still do not know. But we’re getting closer.
A Target spokesperson confirmed to Patch this week the store will open in 2022. An exact opening date has yet to be announced.
Here’s what Target officials told Patch:
“As we get closer to opening the store, we’ll have more specific details to share, including how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests and the grand opening date.”
However, that’s the same exact statement they’ve used dating back to 2020.
But at least we know the store is opening this year.
New Targets replacing shuttered Kmart buildings has become a trend in New Jersey. The Kmart in Kearny that closed last year will be a Target, as is a former Kmart in Somers Point.
Target offers apparel, home decor, electronics, household goods, fresh produce and other groceries.
There are currently 48 locations in New Jersey and more than 1,920 stores nationwide.
